The Muppets takes aim at cheesy movie trailers by ... making a cheesy movie trailer. In the latest clip hyping the film's Thanksgiving release, a smarmy voiceover plows through 40 seconds of romantic comedy clichés before going after the real target: other pictures.
Paranormal Activity 3, Happy Feet 2, Puss In Boots and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn each receive a short blast of snark, culminating with the surprise appearance of "fart shoes." The parody clip follows the popular puppets' earlier takedown of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
Directed by James Bobin (Flight of the Conchords), the Disney comedy features Jason Segal as a Muppet fanatic who reunites has-beens Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the rest of the troupe for a big comeback show. The supporting cast includes Ricky Gervais, Amy Adams and Zach Galifianakis.
The Muppets opens Nov. 23.
