Founded on Danish design principles, LINDBERG has been at the forefront of eyewear innovation since its inception in 1986. The brainchild of architect Henrik Lindberg and his optometrist father, Poul-Jørn Lindberg, the pair cemented a company ethos that took inspiration from architectural design, but remained laser-focused on the comforts and practicalities demanded by those relying on eyewear.
Awarded 112 internationally recognized design accolades since launch, LINDBERG has pioneered innovation, such as its cutting-edge manufacturing techniques that negate the need for screws or rivets within its exceptionally lightweight frames. In one special release, the company created a limited-edition series that was handcrafted from a unique oak log discovered in 1950 on the Danish island Møn. The National Museum of Denmark dated the bog wood at over 6,000 years old.
Its latest release, dubbed the Thintanium collection, does exactly what it claims, offering an evolution of its groundbreaking Thintanium technology. Here, LINDBERG has pushed the boundaries of innovation by incorporating acetate rims into its existing Thintanium construction, marking a significant leap in its eyewear design and customization.
Seeing as no two faces are the same, LINDBERG also offers unparalleled levels of personalization and customization thanks to its modular system that enables wearers to tailor the shape, temple, size, and color of their eyewear. To put that simply, the six new additions to the collection offer a minimum of 62,000 combinations across, size, fit, and color options per style—meaning there is a pair of spectacles to suit every face and sartorial taste.
This forward-thinking collection of eyewear features an ultra-thin titanium-plate front, which won it numerous design laurels, such as the The Red Dot: Best of the Best and the iF Gold Award, thanks to its delicate aesthetic and extraordinary strength-to-weight ratio. The addition of acetate rims takes lightness to new levels, while adding an extra layer of customization.
In essence, acetate rims—incorporated into the patent-pending ultra-thin titanium frames—allow for thinner lenses to be accommodated, enabling individuals with high prescriptions to enjoy lightweight eyewear without compromising visual clarity.
According to LINDBERG, this was only made possible by challenging the latest and most modern manufacturing technologies, resulting in frames that weigh as little as 3.3g and eradicate the requirement for screws within the hinges for a clean, uncluttered aesthetic.
“The evolution of the Thintanium collection exemplifies our dedication to continuous innovation and personalization,” says Roberto Vedovotto, Founder, CEO and President for Kering Eyewear, owner of LINDBERG. “Eyewear should not only reflect one’s style, but also provide unparalleled comfort. With the addition of acetate rims and the option for lighter lenses, wearers can now embrace a personalized eyewear experience that enhances both visual clarity and overall comfort.”
The latest Thintanium collection is offered in both men’s and women’s styles, with several frame designs offered to act as a springboard for customer personalization.
