Awesome new shots show Force Awakens' battle props

This article is a preview of WIRED magazine 01.16, our Star Wars special issue featuring J.J. Abrams, on sale from December 10 2015. Follow our Star Wars: The Force Awakens hub page for all of our web, print and behind-the-scenes coverage.

As part of our month-long build up to WIRED's Star Wars special issue -- and The Force Awakens -- we've got a special look at some of the hand-crafted props used in the upcoming film.

There are old favourites in there (Han Solo’s blaster, Chewie’s Bowcaster) plus plenty of new stuff, totalling a Jakku smuggler’s treasure trove of soon-to-be-priceless memorabilia.

But here's the thing: while we know Kylo Ren's now-infamous crossguard lightsaber, there's another one in there.

You might recognise it: it appears to be none other than Anakin Skywalker's, last seen (in the film chronology, at least) being struck from Luke's hands during his face-off at Cloud City.

In the Force Awakens trailer, we see it being handed off to a new owner -- by whom, we don't know.

And when we asked Disney, they wouldn't tell us.

Which just adds to the growing mystery. Where did it come from? Who owns it now? (It may or may not end up in the hands of John Boyega.) And seriously, #WhereIsLuke?
